I drove up Friday around lunch time with snacks packed! Road trip food is key when eating Gluten Free. You never know where you will be when hunger strikes so having food with you is the safest. I even grabbed some GF cupcakes from Daisy Cakes as a gift!
Friday night I stayed with one of my best friends who is also a Celiac! She lives in downtown Bethesda, Maryland. After walking around and seeing all the fun shops and restaurants we ended up at Mon Ami Gabi. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful fall evening. They have an awesome Gluten Free menu and fresh GF bread! Our waiter, Al, was very knowledgeable about the Gluten Free options. He even said he had to fill out a special “yellow ticket” for us to let the kitchen know we were Gluten Free! Love it!
I ordered a cheeseburger and fries while my friend ordered the GF French Onion Soup and the Butter Lettuce and Arugula salad. They even put the fresh GF bread in the soup to make it Gluten Free instead of croutons!
Check out my burger!?! It was AMAZING! I could have eaten two! The flavor of the burger was great and the bread was perfect. The fries are super thin and crunchy.
For dessert we split the Flourless Chocolate Cake – I would have licked the plate if it had not been a such a restaurant.
Right next door was a Sweet Leaf Cafe that also has a Gluten Free menu. We enjoyed our pizza there.
The pizza was pretty good – not amazing but good. It was the really thin cracker type crust.
Gluten Free Menus can be found at these restaurants in the Northern Virginia area.

Carey – Thanks for your suggestions! None of them were by where I was but they sounded great. Hopefully next trip!
