It’s Gluten Free Donut Time

That is right folks, its donut time!  And I’m not talking about open a box donuts, I’m talking about super easy, made from scratch donuts.  I have been craving Gluten Free donuts for a while now and we just don’t have any safe place to purchase them around us.  This meant it was up to me to create tasty Gluten Free donuts that would quench my craving.  These donuts are baked without yeast which makes them super easy to prepare for anyone no matter their skill level.

Gluten Free Donuts

You all know I love mixes and Bloomfield Farms All Purpose Baking Mix is one of my favorites.  It cooks well, it browns, the texture is great and it is a great cup-for-cup substitute.

Not only is the flour blend Gluten Free it is also dairy, soy, sugar and egg free.  Bonus points for people trying to avoid those food items.  The Bloomfield Farms products are manufactured in a dedicated Gluten Free, peanut free and kosher facility, which just adds another feather to their cap in my opinion.   So when it was time to create my donuts I reached for a box of Bloomfield Farms.

  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • Dash of ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup milk

  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Sift together the baking mix, sugar, baking powder and cinnamon in one bowl. In a second bowl, whisk together your egg, milk, vanilla and oil. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir to combine.
  2. Bake in a 350 degree oven in a greased donut pan for 8-10 minutes or use a mini donut maker.
  3. Top with powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar.

We have a mini donut maker like this one, that I used to create these wonderful donuts.  The kiddos inhaled these things!  Like four a piece in one sitting.  This is a great base recipe to start with.  You could easily customize it to your tastes by adding pumpkin, apple, blueberries, nuts, chocolate chips…  The possibilities are endless.

Yes, any cup for cup all purpose GF flour will work great! Make sure it has xanthum gum and baking powder in it.
