Hey friends! Did you have a fun weekend? Enjoy some tasty Gluten Free food with loved ones? I’m always a sucker for good chocolate.
We went out to dinner with family Friday night and sadly, I got Glutened. I talked to the manager, I asked all the right questions, I did all I could besides watch them make it and I still got sick. The restaurant is a new Italian Restaurant in a town close by.
I haven’t cried over Gluten in a long time but Friday I just lost it. Living Gluten Free has been so wonderful for me, I have more energy, I’m happier, I feel more balanced and my trips to the restroom have drastically reduced. Then, I have those days where it is just plain HARD TO BE GLUTEN FREE. Where you are envious of those who can order anything they want off a menu, or walk into a bakery and pick anything in the case. Friday night was a struggle for me emotionally but I survived and had a great Saturday. We went to Red Robin which is on my top five safe every time restaurant list. Enjoying a cheeseburger with a bun and french fries, helps you feel normal! Heads up, no more yellow baskets to mark the dish as an allergy dish they now have these purple pics.
This week we are working, playing and hopefully getting some snow! NC does not get snow very often and when we do it shuts everything down. This meant all three kiddos and I braved the grocery store today after church in 23 degrees. I know that isn’t cold for a lot of people, but that is crazy cold here!
Monday – Ranch Roast – slow cooker
Tuesday – Chicken Spaghetti
Wednesday – Ground Beef – Sweet Potato Chili – slow cooker recipe from eMeals
Thursday – Dinner out for Hubby and me, kiddos with a sitter
Friday – Chicken Broccoli Alfredo Bake
Saturday – Lasagna
Let’s Hang Out!
Here is a list of the Gluten Free events I will be attending this year.
Would love to meet you all!

You didn’t get glutened at Red Robin, right? I’m trying to understand your post… I ate at Red Robin on Wednesday, and I was served in a yellow basket AND had a purple pick! But I haven’t had a yellow basket everywhere. It seems some locations do things differently.
I hope you are feeling better now. It is SO hard sometimes, and yes, I envy those who can eat without fear. But life is good. So good. And that’s what I have to remember in those hard times.

Pam, I’m so sad to hear you got glutened. Glad you felt well enough to do the blog! It’s so so awful to have to feel so so awful for a few days just because of some dumb and probably small mistake. Since it happens to all of us every so often, might I suggest a blog topic one day of what you personally like to do to recover from being glutened? After I was well on the path to healing on the inside, I did start cautiously trying to let others—friends, family, restaurants,–cook for me again. The first time I was glutened was not a happy picture. And I wasn’t really sure what to do for myself to help myself get better as fast as possible. Over the years I’ve come up with a basic plan that I stick to whenever it happens, and not only does it make me feel better, but it gives me back some of that feeling of control that you feel you lose when you get sick. I bet newly-diagnosed celiacs would really appreciate a practical blog post like that. Thanks!
