Palmetto Farms Product Review

Gluten Free hush puppies!  I first experienced Palmetto Farms last year at the Charlotte GFAF Expo when I had my first hush puppy in years.  It was amazing!  I saw them again at the Raleigh GFAF Expo and tried their grits.  Again, amazing!  So this year for the Charlotte expo I was prepared to load up on their products.  I was so lucky to walk away with three bags of their goodies to try and write about.

Not only are the products very good but they are Gluten Free and made by people who care!  Their website states:
Our mixes are wheat free as well.  We add no wheat and these products are bagged in a wheat free facility!

The same day as the expo I cooked up a batch of my very own Gluten Free hush puppies!  I followed the directions on the bag, added a little minced onion and they came out great!  We ate them up.  One batch made a good number too.

Next I moved on to the cornmeal pancake mix.  The directions on the bag told me just how to make them.  The result was tasty and filling pancakes.  These were also a hit with the kids.  I used some leftover pancakes the next day to make a sandwich – very good!  I plan to use this mix to make cornbread muffins as well.

I ended my Palmetto Farms product tasting with the white grits.   They took about 20 minutes to make and came out wonderfully.  I did have some stick to the bottom of my pot so I don’t think I stirred them frequently enough.  I topped mine with cheddar cheese and bacon pieces!

The products are supposed to be stored in the freezer to keep them fresh.  The bags are a good size so I feel they will last me a while.  You can order the products online or purchase them at GFAF expos.

Overall the hush puppy mix is my favorite!  I like the versatility of the pancake mix and the comfort of a warm bowl of grits.

Disclaimer: I was given the products to try.  The pictures and comments are my own.
