Date Night In

You know how when you are dating you go out to eat a lot?  Remember all those fun restaurants and movies you would go to?  Well as time passes so have our date nights.  For us to actually go out to eat alone requires a babysitter and loads of planning.  By the time we pay for dinner and the sitter it’s an easy $100.  Can I get an Amen on that?

Hubby and I still go out on dates but it is maybe once every two months.  We have changed our style to date nights in!  So instead of going out to eat we just stay home.  After the kiddos are in bed we make a meal together and actually get to sit down and enjoy it together.  Very strange concept!

This week we’ve had two date nights in!  Last night we had a fantastic grilled steak with roasted veggies.

Tonight we had an out of this world Sauteed Italian Chicken.  I followed the recipe on page 115 of Amy’s new cookbook The Warm Kitchen.  I even made the wine sauce that was just over the top.  Sides were sauteed green beans in soy sauce and red skin mashed potatoes.

It is so nice to enjoy these late dinners with one another.  There aren’t any kids dropping food on the floor, hollering for more milk and I don’t have to get up five times for numerous items for the kids.

So – share, what do you do for date night?

We do date night in too, and we don’t even have any kids! Even without the babysitter going out is super expensive. Our date nights usually involve grilling (easy cleanup), a good bottle of wine, and eating out on the porch instead of in front of the TV. So romantic I know šŸ™‚
