What color is your pumpkin?
Our pumpkin is teal this year and here is why: Food Allergy and Research Education or FARE has created the Teal Pumpkin Project for children with food allergies and restrictions. The Teal pumpkin does two things: one it provides awareness about food allergies and two is symbolizes that you have non-food treats available. If your child has food restrictions all holidays are tough to navigate when it comes to food, Halloween is no exception. Especially when strangers are giving your child candy that they can’t eat. To avoid seeing sad little faces encourage your neighbors and friends to provide non-food items this year. That way every child walks away with a smile on their face.
Ideas for non-food treats include: pencils, erasers, stickers, bubbles, bouncy balls, rings, glow sticks…
