Mrs. Pound Cakes Gluten Free Cakes

In the South we have a phrase for food that is mind-blowingly good; “slap your mamma good!”  As in that (insert food) was so good it makes me want to slap my mom.  Not sure where it came from or why it makes sense, however I have been known to use this key phrase in certain situations.  One such situation was when I tried Mrs. Pound Cakes Gluten Free Lemon Pound Cake.  Guys, this pound cake is “slap your mamma good!”  It is everything  you remember about Gluten-filled pound cake without the Gluten.

The cake is heavy but not in a bad, I don’t have Gluten way, it is more of a I’m heavy because I’m real pound cake.  The cake is not crumbly nor does it fall apart when you stick a fork in it.  The cake is super moist and the flavor is out of this world.  We were lucky enough to get two slices of the lemon pound cake to try, being a good mom I did share one piece with the kiddos.  To say they liked it would be an understatement!  I had three mouths wide open just waiting for me to insert another piece of cake.  I will admit that I ate the second piece all by myself when the kiddos went to sleep.

So who is Mrs. Pound Cakes you ask?  They are a North Carolina Gluten Free bakery that specializes in made from scratch pound cakes.  They have nine flavors to include: chocolate chip, lemon, vanilla, vanilla with frosting, chocolate chip with frosting and lemon with frosting.   The next one I want to try is the chocolate chip with chocolate frosting.

The goal of Mrs. Pound Cakes is to create great tasting Gluten Free baked goods for the Celiac and Gluten Sensitive community.  This passion came from having people request Gluten Free versions of their Gluten-filled cakes.  Once they perfected their Gluten Free recipes they decided to only make Gluten Free cakes because they were just as good as their old ones and they were able to help a wider range of people.

If you are already drooling you can visit their website and order you very own Gluten Free pound cake!  They even offer coupons on their website.

Damn….probably not vegan. Oh well, if I were to win it, then it’d be good to make my sister try something GF for once! Ha! But if I got to choose a flavor and actually EAT it, I’d have to say classic ‘ol vanilla! I’m a plain jane, but I still had to do eenie-meenie-miney-moe to figure out which one to choose!
