Fitness Tracker Debate Fitbit vs Vivofit #giveaway

Fitness trackers are wearable devices that track various things like your steps, water intake, food intake, activity level, sleep, time, date, calories burned, distance and activity history.  There are a ton of different types created by various  companies.

Fitness Tracker Review

I have been using fitness trackers for over three years now and am in LOVE WITH THEM for many reasons.

1. It motivates me to move

2. I get rewarded for moving

3. I can track how I’m doing

4. Easy to wear with any outfit for most any occasions

My first fitness tracker was the Fitbit Flex.  I got it for Christmas a few years ago and loved it!

Fitbit Flex Review

Fitbit Flex

Pros: Lightweight

iPhone app is great

syncs automatically if you want it to

simple design

the reward of seeing 5 dots lit up

Cons: battery lasts 5-7 days

trackers does not show you anything beyond the 5 lights

not great in water

My newest fitness tracker is the Garmin Vivofit.  I’m only a few months it, but I’m really enjoying having so much information on the device’s display.

Garmin Vivofit Review

Garmin 2

Pros: battery lasts up to a year

red bar on display notifies you of inactivity

displays time, date, steps taken, steps to goal, distance, and calories burned

can wear it in water without a problem

the step goal changes based on your activity

Cons: iPhone app isn’t as easy to use

have to manually sync the data

heavier and sticks up more then the Fitbit Flex

Overall, I feel both are excellent options.  I am currently wearing the Garmin Vivofit because it is the newer of the two and I like that I can see more information on the display.  I also wear the Vivofit 24/7 so I don’t have to take it off to charge or when I shower.

The Fitbit Charge seems to be a blend of the other two fitness tracker.  It tracks your activity, sleep, time, calories burned and floors climbed.  It also is supported by, in my opinion, the superior phone app.

Here is the good news… I’m giving away a brand new Fitbit Charge!

A fitness tracker might help motivate me. I worked out four times a week since I was 27 years old until about three years ago when my family lost three members in three years, I lost my job and got divorced. Getting through each day was emotionally exhausting, and I stopped working out. Big mistake. During this time period, I also went though menopause and started gaining weight in my stomach. So I need all the motivation I can get. Thanks for the chance to win this amazing little piece of tech.

I’m trying to gain weight, and being in college in Chicago with no car means I have to walk. And walk EVERYWHERE. A Fitbit would help me guesstimate how many steps I’m walking and how many calories I’m burning so that I can factor that into my intake so I can increase to gain. It’s the opposite of what people actually use it for, but it doesn’t make it any less valid!

I think the tracker would help me with a few different things. I definitely have sleep issues and I love the feature that tracks tyour sleep. I think a big thing would be the fitbit stats, to help me keep myself accountable, seeing numbers instead of “knowing” I did what I did through the day. Also, I LOVE the “Challenge” feature. My friend has one of these and her and I really want to do the challenges to help keep each other accountable on our path to healthier living and keeping active!
