We love to entertain people at our home. I take great joy in being able to serve a Gluten Free meal that everyone eats and enjoys. It is a fun game to see if anyone notices that everything is Gluten Free. It is also a great opportunity to try out new recipes and get the house clean.
This past weekend we had some friends over for dinner. They have a new baby and we have our 3 young kiddos so I knew dinner needed to be simple.
Here is the menu:
- Foster Farms Corn Dogs
- Grilled Cheeseburgers
- Chips
- Spinach Salad
- Apple Pie
- Pecan Pie
I made the pies ahead of time to get them out of the way. When our guests arrived Hubby fired up the grill for the burgers and I heated the oven for the corn dogs. Within 20 minutes all the food was cooked and ready to go. This was a perfect meal for Gluten Free and Gluten eaters to enjoy that allowed us to chat and tend to the kiddos. The adults and the kiddos had full plates and tummies.
Here are some tips for hosting a Gluten Free dinner party:
- Create a menu and grocery list from the menu
- Incorporate food items that are naturally Gluten Free like meats and vegetables
- Utilize your slow cooker so you aren’t stuck in the kitchen all day
- Prepare as much of the food ahead of time as possible
- Use boxed dessert mixes if you do not feel comfortable baking GF from scratch
- Use squeeze condiments to avoid cross contamination
We first learned about the Gluten Free Foster Farm Corn Dogs last year. Here is my original review. The kiddos continue to enjoy them. I typically just follow the directions on the box and bake them, but if available they taste the best when fried! I know I know, but trust me fried is best. The twins still tag team the process so one gets all the breading and the other gets all the hog dog. It is very funny to watch them coordinate the exchange.

We love to grill kabobs or make chicken salad on a bed of lettuce!

I try to keep one course as easy and gluten free as possible. For example: I replace a exhausting dessert with naturally gluten free cut fruits to serve for dessert.
