Confession time, my feet have been the same size since 7th grade and I still have shoes from 7th grade. What this also means is I have more shoes in my closet and in boxes than most people have in their entire house for their whole family. The types of shoes vary from flip flops to heels and running shoes to boots. On an average day you will either find me in: flip flops, running shoes, or my boots. When it comes to fancy shoes I label them by how long I can last in them. For example my adorable 3.5 inch heel silver glitter shoes are 2 hour shoes and my black leather calf high boots with a 2 inch heel are a 6 hour shoe.
So bottom line is I love shoes, I have a ton, and I typically only buy them when they are on sale.
I’m not sure how Tieks knew I loved shoes but their ads were on just about every website I went to for a few days before I finally clicked on the link. Enter beautiful Italian leather ballet flats in super cute colors. I was obsessed! They looked crazy cute and all the reviews raved about how comfortable they are. Teachers wearing them on field trips, moms chasing kids all day, and working ladies lasting all day with no blisters.
Why did I not buy them right away? The price tag.
I have a closet full of shoes that were mostly bought on sale, BOGO deals, and with gift cards. There is only 1 pair of shoes in my closet that cost more than $100 and they are my cowgirl boots.
Even with the price tag I just could not get them out of my head. I tried to sell a few things to justify the cost, I saved up, and when I was almost ready to push the BUY button Mother’s Day came and with it beautiful Tieks from Hubby. I’m pretty sure he was so tired of me talking about them he got them for me so I’d be quiet. Which in hindsight was brilliant and I plan to use this trick again in the future!
So here is my honest, not-sponsored, I typically buy cheap shoes review:
Color: I went with the Fushia because I figured if I was I was going to spend the money I wanted them to stand out. And I thought if I loved them my second pair would be in black so I would wear them with more outfits.
Fit: I am a 6.5 to 7 normally. I ordered 7 and they are spot on. I wore them around the house for 2 days just to make sure they were the right size. You can get a full refund/ exchange if the Tieks have not been outside. Details here.
Comfort: It took about 5 wears to get them fully worn it. They are very soft and hug your feet. They hold up great to light or heavy walking. They are a true ballet flat so if you need arch support you will need to put something in them.
Environment: I have worn them to work, to meetings, to the zoo, shopping, on date nights, and on out of town trips. Since they are light weight and fold up they are perfect for traveling.
Hours: Tieks are all day shoes, so 8 hours for sure.
Package: Adorable! They come folded up in a Tiek Teal box with a hand written note, a carry bag, a pouch, and a fun flower band. Our 4-year old quickly claimed the flower band and has worn it as a headband many times.
Cons:
1. Price, these are not your $29.00 Target ballet flats. Tieks start at $175 and go up based on color/ pattern.
2. They are leather so you have to consider the weather conditions. If I see it is going to rain I just carry my Tieks in the carry bag they came with so I can switch them when I get to my destination.
3. They are only sold online so there is no trying them on or matching colors with outfits.
Overall thoughts:
Yes, Tieks are worth the price. I love my hot pink Tieks and wear then as often as I can. They live up to all the hype and I will be buying more. Tieks prove the old saying “You get what you pay for”
