Gluten Free Shopping at Trader Joes

Trader Joe’s is one of my favorite grocery stores to visit for Gluten Free products.  The closest one is 45 minutes away but it is right next to Whole Foods so I can knock both out with one trip.

There are many reasons to shop at Trader Joe’s:
1 – The employees are very helpful and cheerful
2 – The prices are reasonable
3 – They have great Gluten Free labeling with a green little g* designating GF items.
4 – Trader Joe’s Private Label has lots of GF products
5 – Cheap, good wine

Here are some of my favorite go to items to buy at Trader Joe’s
Frozen GF Waffles

Granola

 Rice Pasta Mac n Cheese

 Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ginger Snaps – I can go through bags of these

If you are unsure of what to get, just ask an employee for their GF product list.  You can also just walk around looking for the g* sign.  Make sure you do check the labels of the products.  I have bought something with the green g* but it said “may contain traces of wheat”.  Their website states:

  • Our suppliers follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) to segregate ingredients on shared equipment and/or in the facility.
  • Always read the label – ingredients and suppliers may change.
  • Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley and rye and their derivatives such as malt or spelt.
  • As a general rule of thumb, dairy, juice, meat and produce do not contain gluten or any gluten derivatives.
  • Under Trader Joe’s Brands, ingredients listed as “natural flavors” or “spices” do not contain gluten or gluten derivatives.
  • Use common sense and remember the motto: When in doubt, leave it out.

Happy Shopping!

I miss Trader Joe’s so much!! The closest one is now 4 hrs away šŸ™ I used to always get the GF rolled oats there, such a great price, and I swear those GF chocolate chip cookies are the exact same as the Tate’s Bake Shop ones that are twice the price.

I’ve never had their rolled oats. I normally use Bob’s Red Mill. I’m sure the ones at Trader Joes are cheaper!

I Looove Traders! Their prices are awesome. I have not seen the GF rolled oats there, I’ll have to look for them.
I did a little research on Trader Joes last year and found out they’re a sister store of Aldi. Aldi is also a favorite store of mine.
