Where did May go and how is it almost summer? Anyone else blink and lose a month or four? Our kids are out of school and have officially started their summer break. That means lots of trips to the pool, the park, the zoo, the children’s museum, and anywhere else we can take them to burn some energy.
It may be summer break but that does not mean I can take a break from planning Gluten Free meals for our family. Life flows much smoother if I have a plan and know how to answer the question, “What’s for dinner?”
The last week has been crazy with work, kids finishing school, and adventures. One day last week we took off early and headed north to Danville, Virginia to enjoy a family bike ride on an old railroad track. This bridge was my favorite! The town had 2 restaurants with extensive Gluten Free menus but neither looked kid friendly or were casual enough for the we’ve been riding bikes and are sweaty look. Hubby and I plan to go back to check them out on a future date night. So we opted to get dinner at a chain restaurant that had a GF menu where I grilled the waiter to make sure our food was going to be safe.
For the long weekend, Hubby and I are dropping the kiddos with grandma and we are disappearing. I can’t wait for some “us time.”
This week also includes “us time” with my BFF Cindy from Vegetarian Mamma. She and I met over 3 years ago at a Gluten Free expo and have been friends since. I will be flying up to Ohio where we will sit on the lake, drink wine, and relax.
