JP’s Pastry is a Certified Gluten Free bakery in Benson, NC that makes artisan pastries and cakes. You can order their goodies online or find them in a number of coffee shops, restaurants, and health food stores all over North Carolina.
The GF twins and I had the opportunity to grab some of their goodies at the Weaver Street Coop in Carrboro, NC. Every Thursday a delivery of fresh Gluten Free goodies is dropped off at the store and they have over 20 different baked goodies to choose from!
Joe, “JP”, is a trained pastry chef who created JP’s Pastry after he had a strong allergic reaction to wheat. He worked on recipes to make Gluten Free baked goods taste like regular gluten-filled baked goods. He just finished building a new baking facility that is the first Certified Gluten Free bakery in North Carolina.
Here are just a few of JP’s Pastry GF treats we had: vanilla cupcake, blueberry muffin, cheesecake bars, crumb cake, brownies, and cookies.
We shared the crumb cake with our gluten-eating 7 year old who said, “Man, this stuff is good!” The twins inhaled every crumb of their cupcakes, muffins, and cookies.

There is something for everyone. He even make dairy free, vegan, and paleo options. His baked goods are made in a kitchen that has nuts, so you will need to be careful if nuts are a challenge for you.
JP makes beautiful customized cakes for weddings, birthdays, and events. He stuff is so good no one will ever know it is Gluten Free!
